Q: WHAT ARE THE SUMMER READING PROGRAM DATES?

May 27–August 6, 2017

Q: WHO MAY PARTICIPATE?

Anyone! Adults and kids. Even if your child is not yet a reader, you can read to him or her and record each book that you discover together.

Q: HOW DO I PARTICIPATE? HOW CAN MY CHILD PARTICIPATE?

Signing up is easy—simply register on this site to let us know you’re joining the summer journey. To learn more about the program, stop by our How It Works page.

Q: WHY DOES MY CHILD NEED A UNIQUE USERNAME AND PASSWORD?

Setting up this specific information for each member of your household is an essential part of creating a family account. Once you assign a username and password to your child, you do not need to use this information again for the rest of the program—if you choose. As a parent, all you need to remember is your own username and password. You can switch between your account and your child’s account once you are logged in.

Q: WHERE IS MY CHILD’S WELCOME BOX?

This year, check your mailbox for a congratulations kit that will arrive shortly after your child completes the program! A free book and gifts are waiting inside.

Q: HOW DO I DISCONTINUE PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM?

Please contact us at read@cph.org if you wish to discontinue your participation in Read Like a Lutheran.

Q: CAN TEACHERS REGISTER THEIR STUDENTS IN A GROUP?

Teachers cannot register their students in a group, but that doesn’t mean their students can’t participate. As a teacher, please encourage the parents/guardians to enroll their children in the program.

Q: CAN CHURCHES RECEIVE THE DISCOUNT COUPON FOR SHOPPING ON CPH.ORG?

Yes, the discount extends to churches!

Q: WHY DO YOU NEED INFORMATION SUCH AS AN EMAIL ADDRESS OR A TELEPHONE NUMBER?

We need this information to be able to contact you for prize drawings and to share updates and important information throughout the program.

Q: WHICH BOOKS ARE ELIGIBLE?

We encourage you to check out our suggested reading lists for kids and adults. Reading the books on the lists is the fastest way to get points! But in small ways, any book you read between May 27–August 6 counts toward your Read Like a Lutheran goal.

Q: HOW MANY BOOKS DO I HAVE TO READ TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE PRIZES?

Your eligibility for a prize is determined by racking up 1,000 points by August 6. Each CPH book from our reading lists is worth 100 points; all other books (CPH books not on our reading lists and non-CPH books) is worth 50 points. Watch your points increase as you log your books, and jump into the prize drawing when you reach 1,000.

Q: HOW DO I KNOW WHEN I HAVE REACHED 1,000 POINTS?

Keep track of your point tally in the sidebar of your account. You’ll easily see when you have arrived at 1,000 points. Also, you will be awarded a final badge when you reach the ultimate Read Like a Lutheran goal.

Q: IS THERE A PRIZE?

Absolutely! Each time that a participant—child or adult—reaches 1,000 points, the name and email address of the adult associated with that account is automatically entered into a drawing for the grand prize: a Kindle Fire HD 8 32 GB Tablet and a 12-month gift membership to Audible! Three runners-up will receive a Kindle Fire 16GB. Twenty-five additional winners will receive a copy of The Illuminated Catechism.

Q: HOW WILL I KNOW IF I WIN?

The prize drawing will take place during the second week of August, and you will be contacted by Concordia Publishing House via email if your household is selected for one of the prizes.

Q: Where can I find material to promote the program at my church, club, etc?

You can find posters, bulletin inserts, and more here!
